Flashback analysis- Band of Brothers. Captain Winters.

Who is the main character? The soldier

What happens in this scene? The soldier is sat on a underground train in Paris. His flashbacks get triggered with the people on the train. Such as when he looks at the young boy he has a flashback to someone who looks similar to another soldier that was in the war. Another flashback is caused by a man smoking a pipe, his flashback takes him back to when he was in the trenches. After his final flashback of when he shot another soldier he is woken by the the young boy and they get off the train and leave the station.

Why have they included the flashback? They included the flashbacks so we are shown his backstory and to know more about him and what he went through.

What has it added to the scene? It has given us more depth about him. The scenes and his emotions makes the audience empathise him.

How have they identified that the scene is a flashback? They uses bright and dark flashes, also audio cuts from the present, being on the train, to gunshots.

What is the pace of the editing/post production/audio? In the scenes on the train there is a steady pace and then when its cut to a flashback the pace quickens. Quick editing/cuts are used between the present and past, flashbacks. Also on the train there is a yellow tint to the clips and then is the flashbacks there is a blue tint.
