bbfc- British Board of Film Classification


The British Board of Film Classification is an independent, non-governmental body which has classified cinema films since it was set up in 1912 and videos/ DVDs since the Video Recordings Act was passed in 1984. http://www.bbfc.co.uk/about-bbfc


U -  U stands for universal meaning its suitable for everyone above the age of

PG - PG stands for Parental Guidance, some scenes may be upsetting this is why it advised for a parent to watch aswell but guidance isn't needed depending on the age of child.

12 & 12A -Films classified 12A and video works classified 12 contain material that is not generally suitable for children aged under 12. No one younger than 12 may see a 12A film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult.  Source

15 - Suitable for people aged 15 and above

18 - Suitable for adults, no one younger than 18 may see an 18 film in a cinema
